The Nosara Protected Zone near Hojancha Guanacaste covers the
headwaters
and natural springs in the mountains of the Nicoya Peninsula. These
creeks
eventually become the Nosara River Basin, important to the Nicoya
Peninsula
because it flows year round.
The mouth of the Nosara River eventually empties
into the Pacific Ocean at Nosara Beach, part of the
Ostional Wildlife Refuge.
The inland, nutrient rich sediments are deposited on and feed the
complicated
microbiology which supports the biodiversity on Ostional Beach, which
in
turn supports the incredible arribadas at the world famous sea turtle
nesting
site.
