Park Attractions

Lowland tropical rainforest bordering Braulio Carrillo National Park, between the Sarapiqui and Puerto Viejo Rivers. The Organization for Tropical Studies administers a Biological Station in this protected zone. There is a marked trail system and scientific study possibilities for visitors.

Driving Directions

From San Jose, take the Guapiles highway through Braulio Carrillo. Approximately 5 miles after you cross  the Sucio River, turn left following the sign to Puerto Viejo.  About 2 miles before you reach Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui, you will find the entrance to the La Selva station.

Park Facilities and Hours

Cafeteria and dormitory lodging are available, as well as a marked trail system and bilingual guides.

Project ALAS now operates a modern laboratory faciltiy for the study of biological diversity at La Selva Station.
