Waterfall Brasil Diria National Park


Costa Rica's Diriá National Forest Wildlife Refuge was expanded and became Diria National Park in mid 2004.


It protects tropical forest in the central highlands of the Nicoya Peninsula, including the watersheds and river basins of Rio Diria, Rio Enmedio, and Rio Tigre.

Elevations range from 460 to 3150 feet., with tropical cloud forest in the higher elevations.




Driving Directions

From San Jose, Costa Rica, take the Interamerican Highway to Liberia, Guanacaste. Turn west to Santa Cruz. The entrance to Diria National Park is 9km South of Santa Cruz. see road map above.

Park Facilities and Hours

The ranger station at Sector Diria is open daily from 8am to 4pm for visitor attention. There are two hiking trails, El Venado and El Escabel. These scenic trails lead to the Brasil waterfall and other natural attractions. 

Cabin at Diria National Park

There is a bunkhouse cabin with a capacity of 25 persons, drinking water, electrical generator. Laboratory and study rooms for research groups.
