Park Attractions

The Barra del Colorado Wildlife Refuge protects hot humid forests, mangroves, canals and marine areas on the northern Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica.

The Caño Palma Biological Research Station is located at Barra del Colorado, under the supervision of COTERC.


Park Facilities and Hours

There are no public park facilities at this national wildlife refuge. The biological station conducts research investigations, and can be reached only  by canal boat. See also Tortuguero National Park and Dr. Archie Carr Wildlife Refuge.
